“Practicing mindfulness makes me feel that I have my own toolkit to deal with the stresses and strains of life”

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is an evidence-based, non-religious practice which is not so much a therapy, more a teachable skill that involves directing our attention to our experience as it unfolds, moment by moment, with open-minded curiosity and acceptance.

We live in a world of constant busyness, where there is always another job to be done or a goal to achieve and it can often feel like we are just rushing through, rather than really living our lives. Mindfulness training can help to deal more effectively with stressful situations and can also help us to wake up to the richness of our lives as they actually are, as opposed to how we may wish them to be. In doing so we have an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of how our minds work.

Who is Mindfulness for?

If you feel that you spend a lot of time caught up in your thoughts, worrying about the future, or dwelling on the past, or would like to learn how to respond to difficulties in a different way from how you may have approached things in the past, a Mindfulness course may help.

It may be that for whatever reasons you feel stressed, anxious or just feel that life has lost its sparkle. Or you may just be curious to try something new for you.

What are the benefits of Mindfulness?

Many people who take a Mindfulness course find that it brings them a sense of calmness, that they are able to solve problems in more skilful ways than in the past and there can be a sense of waking up to one's life.

Sleep often improves and there can be an increased sense of wellbeing and happiness.

Reviews of our courses:
  • Quite simply it has allowed me to focus on the here and now - I used to be worried about the future which caused me stress and anxiety.

  • The exercises help clear my mind and feel calm. I am achieving the inner peace I hoped for

  • I feel I have gained more confidence and have learned to cope better in stressful situations.

  • I am definitely less stressed now and don’t let events wind me up.

  • Quite honestly this course has transformed my life.

  • Practising mindfulness has helped me be more accepting of unhelpful thoughts and sensations which previously would have repeated over and over. Just breathing properly brings more calm and clarity, a chance to pause, any time in the day. I notice more now, in a less critical way, even my sleep pattern has changed.
