At Tenterden Mindfulness Group we understand that your people are your greatest asset therefore their health and wellbeing is paramount to the success of your organisation.

Did you know:

  • Every year, businesses lose £8bn to absenteeism, with a further £17-26bn to presenteeism (working longer hours and often whilst unwell)

  • Over 30% of employees have experienced health issues that they’ve not told their manager about

  • Poor mental health is believed to cost between £1,205 and £1,560 per employee per year with 37% of employees having taken time off work as a result of mental health issues in the last 2 years

For any organisation to achieve success it first needs to realise the individual and collective potential of its people and that’s where your Health and Wellbeing Strategy fits in.

Wellbeing support to your employees can take many forms, Mindfulness being one of them, but given its potential to significantly improve mental health, stress and anxiety it really should be at the top of the list when it comes to your wellbeing choices. By enabling your people to focus in the present, Mindfulness practice can significantly optimise people’s performance and therefore their ability to truly contribute in the workplace.

Mindfulness is now recommended by the latest 2022 NHS National Institute for Clinical Evidence (NICE) guidance for less severe depression.

What is Mindfulness
What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness practice has benefitted people for more than 2,500 years. By combining meditations from the East with Western psychology and neuroscience, Mindfulness includes practices such as meditation, breathing exercises and other training tools which can be applied to anything from reducing stress and anxiety to quitting smoking, losing weight, and resolving conflict.

Mindfulness practice has become so popular that more than half of large organisations now offer some form of mindfulness training to their employees.

Mindfulness is supported by a large body of scientific evidence. Research has clearly shown that mindfulness training programmes can improve how we focus, think, feel and act in the moment, as well as supporting our longer-term wellbeing, attitudes, relationships and performance at work.

Mindfulness in the Workplace

Deciding to invest in workplace wellbeing is a great start, but to make a lasting impact on employee health you need insightful knowledge to adapt your strategy, reshape workplace culture and empower your people to make positive lifestyle changes.

Numerous studies have shown that employee wellbeing is linked to greater productivity, so it’s essential that your strategy delivers a programme of benefit tailored to your organisational needs and is backed up by senior management support.

Mindfulness is an important tool in the managerial toolbox that can underpin your people strategy and improve employee wellbeing.

How Mindfulness can help in the Workplace?

No matter what your job, work can be anxiety provoking. Even on our best days, stress can prevent us from being fully focused and doing our best work. Too much stress can lead to burnout, disengagement, increased sick days, and strained relationships in the workplace.

There is now much more focus on the importance of good mental health and wellbeing but how can it be improved? That’s where Mindfulness comes in; it is scientifically proven to tackle this head-on for individuals and teams leading to much healthier organisations.

What's in it for your business?

Mindfulness isn’t just about feeling better, it changes lives. It has the potential to transform leadership styles, teams and organisational culture. Mindfulness is sometimes described as a foundational capacity because it changes the way we interact with the world. It affects what we pay attention to in our lives, the quality of that attention, and the decisions we make as a result.
